All ketamine infusions are administered as an outpatient procedure in our state-of-the-art facility in Culver City, California. During your first consultation, we will need to know about any medications you are taking to ensure there are no contraindications with ketamine.

We discourage eating or drinking anything four hours before your scheduled appointment. You may enjoy clear liquids up to two hours before your appointment.

This intravenous procedure begins with you relaxing in one of our comfortable infusion chairs in a private room where we connect you to hospital grade monitoring equipment for your comfort and safety; blood pressure, EKG, oxygen saturation, and pulse are all monitored. We then locate a suitable vein on your arm, wrist, or hand and insert a very tiny needle with a tube right under the skin’s surface (we have a 95%+ success rate with IVs). Most patients barely feel anything during the insertion and after the IV is established, we remove the needle and all that remains in your arm is a small, soft tube so there is no discomfort when moving. We then connect the tube to a syringe with your tailored dose in a special digital infusion pump. Unlike most clinics, we do not use IV bags. We use digital infusion pumps that can be precisely programmed to administer a very fine-tuned rate of medicine. Should you need less or more medicine during an infusion, the press of a few buttons causes a change within one minute.

We will start the infusion at a target dose to ensure proper delivery into the bloodstream. Your treatment can take up to 55 minutes and you will need to stay seated in your chair the entire time. We also provide pillows, blankets, premium noise-cancelling headphones, unlimited relaxing music, sleep mask, and more to help you feel comfortable and relaxed. Our expert clinical team will have eyes and ears on you at all times.

Once the infusion is complete and you are stable, we will remove the tube from your arm and apply a small bandage. You will rest and recover as long as you need to before a friend or family member drives you home. Uber/Lyft works, though no driving for the remainder of the day. Most patients are ready to go after 20-30 minutes. We encourage a healthy meal, hydration, and rest.
