    About Me:

    Denise is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with dual master's degrees in Counseling and Public Health.  After two decades in medical research, Denise changed gears to learn how people could heal from the inside out.  She spent many years as a therapist working in both non-profit and private addiction treatment centers, as well as community mental health.  In her clinical practice, she blends research-based methods with holistic mind-body approaches.  With a constructivist lens, she believes everyone is responsible for making meaning out of their own lived experience.  Therefore, it is important to Denise to empower her clients to learn to access their inner healing intelligence.  She lives and works in Southern California alongside her beloved therapy dog, Maya.

  • My Process

    Overview of Experience:

    We can work in person or by telehealth. Most people prefer to do the preparation and integration sessions by zoom for convenience in scheduling. Typically, we do at least 2 preparation sessions where we discuss your goals and intentions in detail, review logistics for the journey, and practice grounding and centering techniques. The journey session is done in person and we have various options for where it takes place. The integration session occurs 24-72 hours after the journey. This is where we review your insights from the experience and develop a plan for how to apply those learnings to your life in order to achieve your goals.

    Intake Process:

    Our initial consultation is done by zoom. I will ask you to complete some forms and questionnaires to determine it's a good fit. If you are already working with a prescriber, I will be glad to collaborate with them. If you need a referral to a prescriber, I can provide you with names of trusted colleagues.
