Major Discrepancies Between Advertised and Actual Experience – Not Recommended

I attended MindScape in Cozumel in December 2025, expecting the 7-day PTSD/trauma program as described on their website and in pre-booking communications (link: https://www.mindscaperetreat.com/ibogaine-case-study-for-ptsd-trauma), including a beachfront location at Ave. Rafael E. Melgar #29, specific staff/doctors, and an outlined protocol without unexpected add-ons or preparations.

What I experienced was substantially different (see attached photos of the actual facility and neighborhood):

      * The facility was an inland residential house in a run-down neighborhood, not the advertised beachfront site. This is a significant safety concern: Travelers arriving alone (especially vulnerable individuals like veterans with PTSD or those seeking trauma treatment) may expect a secure, visible beachfront area. Family or friends informed of the advertised address could have difficulty locating you in an emergency, as the actual location is in a less maintained residential area that feels isolated and unsafe, particularly at night or for solo arrivals.
      * Upon arrival, there was immediate pressure to upgrade to a longer program.
      * The protocol included an unexpected multi-day tapering/preparation phase, despite the advertised PTSD/trauma treatment describing a more direct approach without such extended preliminaries.
      * A promised booster or follow-up element was not administered during any phase; it required an extra fee despite being part of the advertised program.
      * Only one NAD+ infusion was provided (which caused bruising).
      * The assigned therapist was not a dedicated professional as implied (it was the facility’s scuba instructor).
      * Website-featured doctors and staff were not present on-site.
      * Some promised elements required extra fees or were not included.
      * Nearly all on-site staff spoke little to no English, making it difficult to communicate basic needs, requests, or concerns throughout the stay.
      * All guest rooms are located upstairs with no ground-floor options, making access difficult for anyone with mobility limitations (e.g., Parkinson’s or similar conditions).
      * The pool area did not appear well-maintained or safe.
      * For several days during my stay, the showers only had cold water.
      * Meals were mediocre at best, poorly prepared, and not organic as one might expect from a wellness retreat.
      * Despite leaving early because the treatment did not match what was promised and prepaid for (including medications and unused portions of the program), no refund—full or partial—was provided.

Billing showed as “Cozumel Cruise Excursions.”

I did not feel fully safe due to the location mismatch and other discrepancies, left early, and received no refund despite the significant differences from the advertised program. Other recent reviews mention similar issues.

Strong recommendation: If considering this retreat—especially if seeking a protocol similar to those in recent documentaries or studies on ibogaine for veterans’ PTSD—verify the exact current location, protocol (including any preparations/tapering), staff presence, billing details, accessibility, facility maintenance, meal quality, language support, and refund/cancellation policies in writing beforehand. The advertised beachfront address does not match the actual inland site, and the routine multi-day preparations may differ from more direct approaches depicted elsewhere—which, combined with no refunds for early departures due to discrepancies and other issues—poses potential risks for travelers, especially those arriving alone or with heightened safety/mobility needs.

Not recommended, particularly for veterans or anyone seeking reliable trauma support.

I had the most incredible experience at MindScape Retreat for Ibogaine treatment for my Parkinson’s disease. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel cared for and safe. They’re not just knowledgeable, they’re genuinely compassionate, and it made all the difference.

The 14 day microdosing program was truly transformative. My tremors and stiffness improved so much, and I felt more stable on my feet. Even better, the emotional weight of living with Parkinson’s, like anxiety and depression, lifted. I feel clearer and more myself than I’ve been in years.

The retreat in Cozumel, Mexico, was the perfect setting for healing, peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing. On top of the Ibogaine therapy, I loved the yoga, meditation, and the delicious, healthy meals they provided. Everything worked together to support my mind and body.

The medical care was top notch, with regular check-ins and personalized treatment. Knowing they work with hospitals and researchers made me feel completely safe throughout the process.

Absolutely 100% would return to MindScape. Of course, the journey was tough at first, but I had all the support I needed, wouldn’t change a thing! I am so grateful for the staff at MindScape and the opportunity to heal inside and out, definitely going back for a touch up soon. ❤️

Words can’t describe how grateful I am thanks to this top of the line clinic in Cozumel. Dr. Omar and team were outstanding and couldn’t have asked for a better retreat. I was suffering from Alcoholism and sever PTSD and from the moment I arrived I felt safe and comfortable. It’s very impressive with their medical equipment and expertise with Ibogaine. When I arrived there were some people leaving and they said MindScape has done what traditional doctors couldn’t. I just left and feel like a completely new person without the constant anxiety and addiction. Thank you so much

I can’t recommend Mindscape enough. Other clinics wouldn’t take me because I was on methadone and wanted me to get off because they didn’t want me to stay for two weeks or would charge me triple. Luckily I found Mindscape and they have a program for long acting opioids. It’s been over 7 months and still feeling great. They changed my life and will tell anyone who’s willing to listen

Highly recommend this retreat. Did the 5 day psilocybin retreat and exceeded our expectations.
