About Me:I am a psychotherapist and psychiatrist specializing in existential and spiritual issues with a focus on psychedelic and holistic medicine. I offer a wide-ranging perspective informed by influences ranging from modern, evidence-informed Western medicine to psychoanalysis to Eastern spirituality that embraces the interplay between mind, body, and spirit. The aim is to foster self-knowledge and progress from insight to embodiment, contradiction to paradox, and alienation to connection.
Description of Services:I seek to help people develop clarity, agency, and meaning through a variety of approaches from the concrete such as nutrition, and movement to the spiritual through modalities such as psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Any issue can be seen, like a sphere, from infinite perspectives and with respect for the mutually inclusive virtues of contemporary Western science and complementary traditions. In keeping with this perspective, I support growth through a bespoke therapeutic alliance that integrates various psychotherapies, lifestyle medicine, and judicious prescribing within the same relationship to enhance healthspan.
Whether you are grappling with a formal diagnosis, the chasm between intellectual understanding and enacted emotional change, feeling unfulfilled despite following social prescriptions, or something you can’t quite articulate, I aspire to form a non-judgmental partnership that, rather than solely ameliorating symptoms, integrates various approaches to address the roots of your challenges, facilitating the native capacity to heal.
I completed psychiatry residency training at Hartford Hospital's Institute of Living where I am also an instructor lecturing on psychotherapy and psychedelic medicine. Additional training has included a fellowship in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Western New England Psychoanalytic Institute (a Yale affiliate), MDMA-assisted psychotherapy training through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), ketamine-assisted psychotherapy with The Ketamine Training Center, and all levels of Accelerated Resolution Therapy training (a variant of EMDR). I have also lectured on psychedelics at multiple psychiatry residencies, in Yale Psychedelic Science Group's elective course, and at various hospitals. Prior to medical school, I studied philosophy at Kenyon College and worked as a mountain guide across the American West.

Overview of Experience:All too commonly, therapy is relegated to the thinking parts of the brain rather than the feeling elements more closely tied to suffering, leaving one merely knowing what to do without the embodied sense of change that drives action. I interweave the following approaches situated within a theoretical framework drawing most heavily from psychodynamics/psychoanalysis and Internal Family Systems. However, somatics, cognitive behavioral therapy, and neuroscience are also important influences.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a rapid acting variant of EMDR that allows people to process difficult events or issues in such a way that they move from overwhelming reexperiencing to functional remembering that leaves events in the past. Internal Family Systems helps people accept as well as reconcile and heal their relationships with parts of themselves that were once helpful in managing adversity, but whose approaches are now outdated. Psychodynamics explores the ways people unconsciously carry their past relationships into the present, often recapitulating patterns in the therapy relationship itself.
Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy visceralizes knowledge imprisoned in the mind, helping people move from knowing to feeling, providing a kind of North Star experience that catalyzes change. People often feel that they have emerged from socially and personally constructed narratives to see themselves more clearly and honestly. Psychedelic medicine does not inure people from difficulty, but rather, can allow them to face their feelings and challenges with an enhanced sense of openness, flexibility, and perspective. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy entails preparation, actively supported dosing, and integration sessions to increase the likelihood of safe and productive experiences that yield durable change. Sessions can occur at low doses that deepen and enrich traditional therapeutic work as well as higher dose experiences. In addition to providing ketamine-assisted psychotherapy I provide preparation and integration support, medically, psychologically, and spiritually for independent plant and synthetic medicine experiences within various traditions (Grof, Shipibo, etc.).
Therapy is a place to explore the contours of your psyche, roots of your actions and feelings, and nature of your body-mind-spirit—as well as their relation to one another.
Intake Process:I typically begin with a free 20 minute Zoom call, then a 90 minute intake to explore working together. I am currently licensed in CT and NY and see patients both via telehealth and in person. I am also available for consulting, coaching, education, and creative work further afield.
