Hi! We are Matt and Jeanae, founders of New Life Rising. Since 2014, we have dedicated ourselves to building a retreat that honors the traditions of ayahuasca while prioritizing safety every step of the way. From the very beginning, our intention has been to create an experience that feels personal, supportive, and grounded, where each guest is truly seen, held, and cared for.
Ayahuasca is more than a passion to us. It is our life’s purpose.
With extensive training in the Peruvian Mestizo traditions, we guide each ceremony with compassionate presence, integrity, and deep respect for the medicine. Over the years, we have had the privilege of walking alongside thousands of souls on their journeys of healing and transformation. New Life Rising is a reflection of that experience, devotion, and genuine care for this work.

Ayahuasca Retreats in Texas, USA: Launching in 2026
After more than a decade of hosting experiences in Costa Rica, we are so excited to offer our transformative ayahuasca retreats in Texas, USA - our home country. This expansion is rooted in a sincere desire to share the spiritual principles and wisdom of ayahuasca with our own culture while adhering to legal and ethical standards. Our ayahuasca retreat in Texas offers a rare opportunity to experience this sacred work in an authentic and intentional way, without having to journey abroad to Costa Rica or Peru.
The retreat is an invitation to pause, turn inward, and find a divine connection to spirit and oneself.
Our approach honors the immersive depth of the experience, meeting ayahuasca with patience, respect, reverence, and intention. Unlike many ayahuasca retreats in the United States that squeeze two or three ceremonies into a single weekend, our retreats are designed with spaciousness and care.
We create the time to truly process the experiences with a day of rest and reflection between ceremonies, offering integration circles and continued support after the retreat ends. Guided by experienced facilitators, group sharing, and post-retreat resources, this grounded container allows participants to integrate their insights and carry meaningful, lasting change into their daily lives.
Description of Services:We limit space in every Ayahuasca retreat to 14 participants. From the moment you arrive, we do all we can to make our Ayahuasca retreat feel warm and welcoming. We dedicate ourselves to helping our guests find a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in their lives. Ayahuasca can be a powerful tool for transformation, and it is our honor to share this medicine with others.
By celebrating our vulnerabilities and fostering genuine connections, we embrace the full spectrum of our human experience and together we support each other on the path of healing.
After more than a decade of working with ayahuasca, we have fine-tuned our ayahuasca retreat Costa Rica program to offer a variety of complementary healing modalities. From our ayahuasca ceremonies guided by ayahuasqueros trained in the Peruvian Mestizo traditions to Hatha yoga sessions, massage therapy, group sharing circles, nature therapy, nutritional meals, and airport transfers, we have considered every element to best support you on your journey.

Practitioners:Matt and Jeanae are fortunate to have learned through a very powerful lineage of healers. In 2014, after deciding they wanted to dedicate themselves to working with Ayahuasca, they became students of world-renowned shaman Don Ron Wheelock, the 'Gringo Shaman' of Peru. Ron has been living in Iquitos, Peru for nearly 30 years and has amassed a wealth of knowledge on Ayahuasca, spirits, brew making, and Mestizo traditions. He is recognized as being one of the original pioneers of bridging the gap of Ayahuasca accessibility to the West.
Don Ron was the student ofDon Agustin Rivas Vasquez and Don Jose Coral Mori, the teacher of Pablo Amaringo and Eduardo Luna, the authors of “Ayahuasca Visions”. After studying with both Ayahuasqueros, he began working on his own in 2000.
After completing many master plant dietas under the guidance of Don Ron, Jeanae and Matt were able to connect more deeply to their spiritual lineage in 2022 by visiting the village of Tamshiyaco and spending time at the camp of Don Agustin and Dona Marlena. Don Agustin was 98 years old at the time of the visit and still leading ceremonies. He and Ron are both very well-respected members of their communities and overall incredible men.
Matt and Jeanae feel privileged to have been passed down Icaros and spiritual wisdom through a long lineage of powerful Peruvian healers.
Team/Medical Staff:Jeanae and Matt lead the ceremonies. They have also been trained in CPR and the use of an on-site AED. We have 2 support team members, one female and one male.

My husband and I recently returned from a seven-day retreat with New Life Rising, and ever since getting home, I’ve been trying to draft a review that I’d appreciate as a prospective participant. Honestly, words fail to describe the powerful, life-changing experience that we found here. I arrived feeling skeptical that plant medicine could show me what I was looking for, and I’m so thankful to say that my mind has been changed; this was the most enlightening week of my life. If you’re even remotely considering an ayahuasca retreat, look no further. Matt and Jeanae are the most down-to-earth, genuine, caring individuals, and their commitment to and respect for plant medicine and knowledge is unparalleled. Every detail throughout the week was meticulously thought through and planned for, from the delicious vegan meals and lush ecolodge environment, to the yoga sessions and massage work – it was all in service of giving each participant the foundation to be in the best place to receive. My experience here allowed me to see my life, myself, and my relationships with greater clarity and perspective, lending me the insight on how to repair things that have needed attention. The way I fundamentally felt about certain conflicts was changed, and this was the greatest gift; I was able to lay down burdens I’d been carrying for far too long. The deep sense of knowing that I’ve gained from this experience has stuck with me even now that I’m back home, and it remains undeniable. I feel strongly that I would’ve never been able to make the connections or had the realizations that I had any place other than here. Attending with my spouse deepened our connection and has absolutely strengthened our bond. We are looking to the future with renewed excitement and thinking bigger for ourselves and what we want in life. My life has changed for the better knowing the wonderful people in our group, Matt and Jeanae, and our helpers Chris and Elisa. The small cohort size enables you to really get to know the others, and this is an asset as the conversations and connections that we made throughout the week felt nearly as important as the ceremonies. This is an individual experience, but so enhanced by the whole team as we cheered each other on and lent support to one another. What an unforgettable experience – my gratitude knows no bounds. Hi! Is this your first time? the tenth time? it doesn’t matter .Oh no, you have no idea what awaits you my friend! Everyone has a different experience, mine was unimaginable – it was a miracle.
1. I came alone with only Russian and very weak English – I was accepted as a native, they supported me, they spoke to me through a translator, I never felt bad or awkward. This is a place where you are truly respected
2. Yes, I was terribly afraid, I had to fly 30 hours, I did not understand at all what to expect, because there are a lot of lies about Ayuvaska on the Internet.
3. This is beyond all my expectations, I am a new person. My phobias and fears have left me. My complexes will no longer make me sit at home and hide from people. Yes, I refreshed my mind and can create many new useful habits – I have one more chance.
4. If you feel that it is time – do not be afraid to change your life. Matt, Jene, Chris and Elizabeth will accompany you. Everything will be just fine
5. My head was a mess, I was lost, ayuvaska, my efforts, the masters and those present in this house gave me breath. Go ahead my friend – you will succeed, dear reader.

This was our first experience with ayahuasca, and it was incredible. We are so happy we chose New Life and can’t imagine going anywhere else. Matt and Jeanae are in their element and doing precisely what they were meant to do!
I highly encourage taking advantage of the airport transfer to New Life that Matt and Jeanae offer. Although I wasn’t looking forward to riding in a shuttle for two hours with strangers, the bonding that occurred during that ride was invaluable in the overall experience.
