To come to our retreat center, we have an application process in place that ensures we gather necessary information about your overall health. This includes answering a few questions regarding your well-being. Based on your responses, we may request an intake call to gather further details if needed. This process helps us ensure your safety and well-being throughout your journey at Selva Madre Retreat Center.

Retreat Diet Requirements:

Following specific dietary guidelines is an integral part of the preparation process. Before your retreat, we recommend abstaining from pork, all dairy, coffee, and alcohol for at least four weeks. Additionally, it is important to avoid any sexual acts or thoughts for two weeks before, during, and two weeks after your retreat. A healthy diet is encouraged during the preparation phase, which involves avoiding sugar, soda, greasy and heavily processed food. We also suggest limiting the consumption of foods containing Tyramine (such as cured meats, soy, and pickled foods) and foods with Tryptophan (like turkey and canned tuna) for 1-2 weeks prior to the retreat. Ceremony Experience:

At Selva Madre, our ceremonies take place in the Maloca, a sacred temple space where the Maestros conduct healing work. In the Maloca, you will be provided with a sleeping mat, a release bucket, and blankets for your comfort. You are welcome to bring any supportive tools that you feel will enhance your experience, such as Mapacho, Agua De Florida, or personal crystals and altar items. Our ceremonies are intentionally designed to offer private time with Ayahuasca, allowing you to establish a personal connection with the medicine. The Maestros will sing Icaros to cleanse, protect, and create a safe space for you to engage with the medicine on your own terms. The quantity of Ayahuasca you receive will generally be determined by the Maestro, but you are welcome to communicate if you prefer more or less. Starting with a smaller dose on the first night is often recommended to ease into the energy of Ayahuasca. Before drinking the medicine, we suggest bringing your intentions to the forefront of your mind, expressing gratitude, joy, and respect for the transformative process. The Maestros will provide each participant with an individual Arkana, a healing song that bestows blessings and protection. The Maestros will announce the conclusion of the ceremony, light candles, and you can choose to remain in the Maloca or return to your hut.

Integration:

Integration is a crucial phase following your retreat, where you continue to nurture yourself and apply the insights gained during your time in the jungle. It involves translating your experiences into actionable steps that support your personal growth. Integration is the bridge between the spiritual realm and physical reality, marking the beginning of the real-world, ground-laying work. At Selva Madre, we are committed to supporting you beyond your retreat experience. We offer one free one-to-one integration session with an affiliated licensed therapist, who will assist you in laying the groundwork for your post-retreat life. This session helps you materialize the wisdom you've received and guides you in implementing it into your daily life. Should you require ongoing support, you may choose to continue sessions with our affiliated therapist for a fee. Additionally, our resource section offers suggestions for reading materials and films to support your integration process.
