Clinic Info
About your Clinic:Nekawa is a 28-day ibogaine treatment and wellness program on 400 acres of Atlantic Forest outside Paraty, Brazil. Ibogaine is prescribed by physicians and administered in a hospital with continuous cardiac monitoring, which we believe makes it the safest way to receive this medicine anywhere in the world. The medicine, though, is only one part of the program. The rest of the month is spent living well: daily meditation, exercise, time in the forest and on the water, and meals grown in our own garden. Our team is made up of people who have taken iboga and ibogaine themselves and now dedicate their lives to it, and they guide each guest in building a routine they can carry home. For longer stays, ayahuasca is woven into the program as a second stage of integration.

At Nekawa she leads the psychology curriculum: how the mind builds its patterns, and how it can be taught to build better ones.
Matthew Sabatino - Ayurvedic Medicine Doctor and Meditation Teacher - Matt was raised in Florida and was blessed to experience ibogaine in 2015 for opiates and other substances after spending close to 10 years battling addiction. Since then, he has completed a 4-year Ayurvedic Medicine Doctorate and helped start a successful business in Denver, CO. A great example of how to be after Ibogaine.
Tatiana Aya Tupinambá - Spiritual Teacher - A Brazilian born indigenous woman who overcame her own alcohol addiction with Ayahuasca in 2012. The experience inspired her to live a better life more connected to nature and educating herself with meditation, yoga, and plants. Charles D Johnston - Practical Teacher - Charles was raised in Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. He was fortunate enough to experience ibogaine in 2013 and has never looked back. Overview of Experience:Preparation starts at home, about four weeks before arrival. You get weekly online group calls, emails to help you get ready, and you begin working with a therapist. Once you arrive, the first ten days are for settling in: resting, eating from the garden, meditating, exercising, getting out on the trails and the river, and meeting with our doctor and psychologist. You are not thrown into treatment on day one.
The ibogaine treatment itself happens in a hospital. Ibogaine is prescribed by a physician and given under continuous heart monitoring with a medical team present the whole time, usually over 24 to 48 hours. We believe this is the safest way to take ibogaine anywhere.
Then you come back to the land for about 16 days of integration. This is the part most programs skip and the part we care about most. Every day has a rhythm: morning exercise, time in the river, meals grown on the property, study groups, walks, meditation, and one-on-one sessions with a therapist. Our team members have all taken iboga or ibogaine themselves, so they know what the weeks after look like from the inside. The goal is that you leave with habits you can keep, not just an experience you remember. After you go home we continue with 45 days of weekly integration groups and check-ins. For guests who stay longer than 28 days, ayahuasca is added to the program as a second stage of the work.
Intake Process:We take enrollment slowly. It usually takes one to four weeks and includes three separate interviews: a first conversation to make sure the program is a good fit, a medical screening with our physician, and a psychological assessment with our psychologist. We review your full medical history, current medications, and any heart-related concerns, since cardiac safety is the main thing we screen for with ibogaine. Before you arrive you sign the enrollment agreement, a medical acknowledgment, and consent forms. The first three days on site are a trial period so you can rest, see the place, and decide whether to continue before payment is collected.
