Therapist Info
About Me:Dr. Nick Brüss is a paradigm-shifting psychedelic therapist, researcher and trainer who is whole-heartedly invested in helping people heal, grow and live free in their lives (with and without the use of psychedelic medicine).
He is passionate about teaching people how to free themselves from suffering, to live in their body, and to engage a creative and meaningful life. He does this by supporting and challenging clients to re-experience themselves as whole, by building life-changing programs, training the next generation of clinicians and educating the public about the vast benefits of psychedelic-assisted therapies.
Nick is a therapist and clinical supervisor on the ground breaking FDA Phase III clinical trial of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD sponsored by Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). Having provided ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) since 2017 and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy since 2013, he is a leader in psychedelic-assisted IFS therapy. He is a co-founder and lead clinical trainer at the Psychedelic Coalition for Health (PCH), a psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy trainer at TheraPsil, and a volunteer with MAPS’s Zendo Project.
Having seen the power of psychedelic-assisted therapy, Nick advocates and educates for science over stigma and is inspired to provide reliable information and integrated training to work and explore with psychedelic medicines.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a leading edge therapeutic process that can deepen the psychotherapeutic experience, making it easier for clients to access parts of themselves that may be more protected. Ketamine is currently the only legally accessible psychedelic medicine and has a fifty-year history of safe use worldwide as an anesthetic agent in medical procedures. Used in sub-anesthetic doses, ketamine has been shown to be effective for many mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and suicidality.
Combining Internal Family Systems (IFS) with KAP can accelerate a healing process, assisting your innate healing capacity by unburdening the parts of you that hold entrenched limiting beliefs and/or maintain painful habits. I offer concierge ketamine-assisted IFS therapy (KA-IFS) programs for people to deepen awareness of maladaptive misbeliefs and patterns, and interrupt and transform them. My KA-IFS programs are 4-8 weeks and include preparatory sessions, weekly ketamine-assisted sessions, weekly integration sessions, and daily integration practices. Clients have said that through this work they learn to better befriend themselves, get aligned with their higher Self, and experience the free, connected wholeness of who they are.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a clear, non-pathologizing and empowering modality that I utilize to help you detect and then deepen your relationship with the various parts of your experience (like an inner-critic, shutdown or worrier part). I’m a longtime certified IFS therapist and a leading psychedelic-assisted IFS therapist.
The limiting patterns and associated negative beliefs that hold you back, likely learned earlier in life and reinforced over years, were adaptive for a time. IFS therapy connects you with your inner healing intelligence that then updates outdated ways of being and brings forth balance and aliveness. It’s a training on how to know and be your true self. Simply put, this work establishes you, not your fears or limiting beliefs, as the leader of your precious life.
Psychedelic Integration
Integration means to make whole or to bring into wholeness. Psychedelic integration is an ongoing process of learning from psychedelic medicine-assisted sessions to catalyze meaningful change and move from rigidity and chaos into harmony.
After a psychedelic experience, it’s not uncommon to feel flooded with information, overwhelmed by emotion, and have a lack of clarity around what to do next. Durable healing and sustainable growth are the results of harvesting insights and experiences and practicing new, self-loving lifestyle choices. Action and practice are required.
Support in psychedelic integration ideally begins with preparation before the medicine experience, such as clarifying your intentions and developing tools for your journey. After the journey, integration is supported through experienced coaching that guides a process of inquiry, empowering you to incorporate your increased awareness into actionable positive growth.
I am a therapist and supervisor on the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) sponsored FDA Phase III clinical trial of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD. I’m also a clinical trainer of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and therapeutic psilocybin.
