About Me:Brett Knowles is a contemplative, somatic-based practitioner and psychedelic integration therapist based in Boulder, Colorado. His work emphasizes awareness, presence, and nervous system regulation as the foundation for healing. For several years, he has supported individuals in working through trauma, emotional processing, and the integration of psychedelic experiences.
His background is unique in that it draws from both modern somatic approaches, including Somatic Experiencing, and classical Chinese medicine. This integration informs a grounded, body-oriented approach that helps clients integrate insight in a way that is stable, embodied, and sustainable.
He is committed to providing care that is calm, thoughtful, and respectful of each person’s unique process. His values center on presence, safety, compassion, and supporting people in integrating meaningful experiences into everyday life.
Description of Services:I offer psychedelic integration sessions grounded in a contemplative and somatic-based approach. This work supports individuals before and after psychedelic experiences, helping to prepare the nervous system, process insights, and integrate change into daily life.
Integration sessions focus on slowing down and listening to the body. Rather than trying to interpret or resolve an experience too quickly, we work with awareness, sensation, and regulation so that meaning can unfold naturally over time.
Because psychedelic experiences can be expansive and sometimes disorganizing, preparation and integration are essential. This work helps bring awareness back into the body, supporting a sense of grounding, stability, and orientation. Somatic work is a central part of every session, offering a consistent foundation for integration. When appropriate, acupuncture may be included as part of the preparation and integration process to support regulation, but it is always optional and not required. This is offered gently and in alignment with the overall therapeutic work.
Sessions may include:
- Psychedelic preparation and integration
- Somatic tracking and nervous system regulation
- Support for processing challenging or destabilizing experiences
- Emotional integration, meaning-making, and cognitive processing
- Grounding and stabilization practices
This work is well-suited for individuals seeking a steady, body-oriented approach to integration, particularly those who feel overwhelmed, sensitive, or are looking for a more grounded way to process their experiences.

Overview of Experience:About Your Process
My process is grounded in awareness, presence, and nervous system regulation. Whether in preparation or integration, the work begins by slowing down and orienting to what is most present in your experience.
In preparation, we focus on building a stable foundation. This may include clarifying intentions, developing somatic awareness, and strengthening your ability to stay connected to your body during an experience. The goal is not to control the experience, but to support your capacity to meet it with greater steadiness and trust.
During integration, we work with how the experience is held in the body and nervous system. Rather than rushing to interpret or analyze, we allow space for the experience to unfold and reorganize over time. This often includes somatic tracking, grounding, and gentle inquiry to support emotional processing, meaning-making, and cognitive integration. The body is not only a place of regulation, but a primary source of insight, where understanding can emerge directly through felt experience.
Sessions are collaborative and paced according to your system. Some sessions are more conversational, while others are quieter and more body-focused. The emphasis is on helping you stay connected, regulated, and oriented as insights begin to take shape in a way that can be integrated into daily life.
This process is especially supportive for those who feel overwhelmed, sensitive, or are looking for a more grounded and embodied approach to working with psychedelic experiences.
Intake Process:Intake Process
The intake process begins with an initial consultation to understand your goals, history, and what you are seeking support with. This includes discussing your mental health background, prior experience with psychedelics (if any), and your current level of support and stability.
If you are planning to work with ketamine or another prescribed medicine, I collaborate with a small network of trusted prescribers, including psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. These providers are responsible for medical evaluation and screening, including any considerations related to medications or health conditions. If you already have a provider, I am happy to coordinate within your existing care team when appropriate.
In most cases, we begin with a series of preparation sessions. This allows time to build a strong therapeutic relationship, develop somatic awareness, and establish a sense of safety and trust in the process. It also provides space to assess readiness and ensure that this work is a good fit for you.
The intake process is collaborative and paced according to your needs. We will discuss expectations, preparation, and any questions you may have as we move forward together.
From there, we establish a plan for preparation and integration that supports your individual process.
