Dr. Deborah Mash is a professor of neurology and pharmacology, who is one of the world’s foremost research experts on ibogaine. In this episode of the Third Wave podcast, Dr. Mash talks with Paul F. Dr. Deborah Mash is a pioneering researcher of ibogaine and one of the world’s foremost experts on the substance. She is also the founder and CEO of DemeRx, a pharmaceutical company developing ibogaine and noribogaine for treating addiction. Dr. Mash earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida State University and her Ph.D. in neuropharmacology and neuroscience from the University of Miami, where she ultimately became a professor at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine where she taught until 2018. At the University of Miami, Dr. Mash founded the university’s brain bank, which collects and provides brain tissue specimens for clinical research. She founded DemeRx in 2010, serving as its Chief Strategy Officer for three years. In 2017, she became DemeRx’s CEO and began a research professor position at Nova Southeastern University.
