SHOULD YOU MICRODOSE MUSHROOMS OR LSD?
Discover the differences between these two powerful psychedelic medicines so you can decide whether to microdose mushrooms or LSD.
HOW MUCH IS A MICRODOSE?
Microdose
10-20 µg of LSD or
0.1-0.3 g of magic mushrooms
Moderate Dose
100-200 µg of LSD or
2.5-4 g of magic mushrooms
Heroic Dose*
400 µg of LSD or
5-7 g of magic mushrooms
Quote: “Someone taking a dose this low functions, as far as the world is concerned, a little better than normal. To date, I received no reports that sub-perceptual doses have caused any social disruption, personal upset, or any form of work-related difficulty.”
Dr. James Fadiman, author of The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide and renowned psychedelic researcher
* This dose amount is NOT recommended. Heroic doses have extreme variability when taken.
DR. FADIMAN SAYS TO TAKE A MICRODOSE EVERY 3RD DAY.
For 10 weeks:
Sunday: Take microdose
Monday: Observe residual effects
Tuesday: Day off
Wednesday: Take microdose
Thursday: Observe residual effects
Friday: Day off
Saturday: Day off
- Take notes: On the various observed effects of the sub-perceptual dose.
- Follow your normal routine: No major changes.
The overwhelming majority of users have zero issues with psychological well-being, emotional balance, and productivity at work while microdosing. However, a few report an uncomfortable level of emotional release.

This was much appreciated i found your knowledge on microdosing to be very informative
hey i am wondering about the table with the every-fourth-day topic. is this in the picture correct? why there is first one day off and then two days off? how to continue? with one day observation and then two days before the next microdose? i am confused by the fourth-day rule cause is there something special aboit the first doses so to take the second one after three days?
Nope, I think you may be over-analyzing. Usually, it is recommended to take 2 microdoses per week on a schedule of 10 weeks – for a total of 20 microdoses. Because 1 week = 7 days, there is an uneven amount of time separating the 2 microdoses.
I’ve done it with this and for the first time in my life I felt like myself. I’m 47 and have done counseling, antidepressants now menopause but nothing helped. I felt helpless, worthless until the shrooms. I didn’t need those medications All symptoms gone. I just don’t know where to go to get this? A friend gave me a “chocolate bar” I ate a square every 3 days. Her advise & perfect. Don’t know how to get/begin. Please help
Thanks for your note Rebecca. Our Sourcing Guide may be able to help by offering suggested vendors for legal sourcing in many countries – https://thethirdwave.co/ultimate-guide-to-sourcing-psychedelics/. We hope you find what you’re looking for. 🙏
Should you take your microdose with breakfast in the morning like its adviced to do with supplements ??? or should i take it on a empty stomach, wait for the effects and then eat breakfast ??? pls tell me i cant find nothing about that
Either is OK. If you take it with breakfast, it will probably just take a bit longer to work.
is that mushroom measurement for wet or dried?
Dried!
Very nice!
After the 10 weeks what happens? What’s the next step?
Does anyone know were to get this in the Bay Area and how to prepare the dose?
Hi Andres,
You probably won’t have much luck soliciting for illicit substances on a website 🙂
My recommendation is to start cultivating relationships with other individuals in the Bay Area who also have an interest in psychedelics. Best place to start is the San Francisco Psychedelic Society.
For preparing the dose, you can submerge the LSD in distilled water or cut off tiny strips. The former is more accurate, the latter simpler.
Thank you for posting this! What happens after the 10 weeks are done, when to re-start the doses?
Depends on your purpose for microdosing! You can start right away, or you can wait a longer period of time.
Does anyone know the microdose for San Pedro powder?
Do you mean mescaline? Or do you mean powdered up San Pedro?
Hi… I md’d fir 6 weeks and found my sleep very disrupted …. otherwise very positive results…. I never got sleepy so I went off and right away my sleep improved… is this common?
Thx
Do you mean mescaline? Or do you mean powdered up San Pedro?
Depends on your purpose for microdosing! You can start right away, or you can wait a longer period of time.
SoO0.. I’ve been doing daily microdosing with 1P-LSD (LSD-25 derivative still fully legal in much of Europe in 2016) since almost a year. My preferred dose is very low, about 6 microgram (halving a 100µg trip repeatedly until you have 16 square pieces gives approximately 6 mcg quite reproducibly).
It really helps me a lot with my ADHD (better than Ritalin) and procrastination while having no detrimental side effects. I have documented my findings at
https://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=108666 and hope the ADHD research scene will pick up from here. I just wish I had found out earlier…
Great to hear! Thanks for sharing your experience. We are planning to write up more about microdosing with 1P-LSD as it is much easier to obtain than LSD-25.
BTW, my cutting method explained:
<img src="http://i.imgur.com/3GpQrNw.png" />
You should look also into 1A-LSD better known as ALD-52 which is also legal in most countries in europe. In my opinion it is safer to use than 1P-LSD because it was already used in some clinical trials in the 1950s showing equal effects to LSD. For 1P-LSD there is still no data at all.
Greetings from an LSD researcher.
Just reading this is giving me so much hope I’m so scared of this stuff but I want to want to stop doing opiates microdosing may be for me I can’t wait to start this and tell my story I would love to hear more ASAP I’m so happy never heard of this until I got desperate enough and typed crazy way to cure addiction what they won’t tell u and I found this earlier today I was tired of living but now I have hope first time in a while
Hi Cal,
We’re excited to hear that you are starting a journey in microdosing! Don’t forget to check out all of our guides here to help you get started. There is definitely hope and our mission is to be a part of that.
Thank you so much for this. Been microdosing .2g of dried ground mushroom for 2 months. I’m not really finding I’m noticing any difference but when I tried .3 it felt a little much. I’m coming from a long period of low vibration and trauma. Listened to a podcast where the girl said she needed to take a full dose to press the reset button before the micridosing showed true benefit. I’m ready to try anything but a little fearful about taking a full dose alone even though I have done years ago before my trauma. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead!
Hi there,
It sounds like you’ve been sticking to your microdosing protocol and experimenting with dose, which is a great first step. Two months should be enough time to have seen a positive difference, but everyone is different (for example, some people react better to LSD than psilocybin, some at 10ug versus 20ug, etc). This is purely my personal opinion, but I believe that macrodosing experiences can be highly beneficial and act as a “reset”, as you suggested. That being said, everyone has unique brain chemistry and being prepared to surrender to this type of experience is essential.
I hope this helps. Best of luck to you!

If you were to microdose, Would you just drop the dose on your tongue?
Hi all,
If i have a microdose day (mushrooms) do I need to take like every 4-5 hours a small bit?
Thanks
No, you should wait a few days before microdosing again.
Thanks
Awesome article, thanks.
Can you also microdose with cannabis?
We will be putting up an article about marijauna microdosing within the next couple of weeks! Stay tuned!
I just started eating mushrooms last week. So far, a couple of moderate doses for like 3 days consecutively. I’m going to start eating according to your schedule, but what are the down sides of eating every second day or eating more than .5 g every couple of days?
Tolerance builds quickly so you’re basically wasting drugs and putting your brain at risk for working overtime.
I have suffered from Depression, (social)-Anxiety and ADD since I was little and never had any real feeling of overcoming these obstacles. Since A frend told me about microdosing I’ve been testing it out and I finally feel like I have real hope of combating these obstacles and start really living in the world, interacting with people, not being stuck in my head all the time and being able to genuinely feel empathic towards others. Because of the benefits I receive from microdosing with .25 grams of Magic Truffels (Legal substitute for mushrooms in the Netherlands) I take it every day for almost 2 weeks now.
I have a few questions on the matter of microdosing:
I have read on different posts on the internet that the threshold level for microdosing mushrooms/truffels is .30 grams, and going above this will raise the tolerance level. Staying between .20-.30 grams will not raise the tolerance level much, so does this mean that when I keep taking 0.25 grams of truffels twice a day, every day, that my tolerance level doesn’t grow much? I don’t want to wait four days to enjoy the microdosing effects so I hope to hear from some expert that microdosing daily is doable:p There are no bad side effects of taking it daily, its just that the tolerance level might be an issue for microdosing everyday.
I recently had a powerful experience taking 5.5 grams of dried truffels and so my tolerance level is probably higher now for between 1 – 2 weeks.
We recommend taking a dose every 3-4 days to allow your tolerance to build back up. It’s possible that if you microdose every day, you’ll eventually stop noticing any benefits, and you’ll possibly become fatigued.
Not experienced yet. But been doing lots of research on it and plan to start with my own personal “experiment”. Depending on how it works for me my mom is also considering giving it a try to help with her depression which she has battled her entire life.
Please keep me updated. As I mentioned in the video, high doses seem to do the most ‘long-term’ good for depression. Microdosing helps – but, in some cases, the long-term benefits don’t last as long as people hope once they stop microdosing.
Joe.. how much are you using? X
I felt pretty trippy when I took .2 g mushrooms and 3 days later still felt a wave of anxiety at .08 grams. The anxiety passed but it was definitely not subperceptual. I’m going to try .05 g today and see how that goes. Am I still going to get benefits even if I am taking such a low dose? My main issue is insomnia and after that first inadvertent trip I slept seven hours straight through which is a huge coup for me. Not so much after the lighter dose. I am prone to anxiety and it seems to trigger that a bit in the onset.
Hi there Blythe,
It is difficult to give definitive advice regarding microdosing due to that fact that brain chemistry and sensitivity to substances can vary so widely. When you dose, I would definitely advise dosing as early in the morning as you can so that it does not negatively impact your sleep. You can absolutely still get benefits from a low dose if you are, in fact, that sensitive to psilocybin. The only way to know for sure will be to stick to a protocol for at least a couple of weeks and keep a log of your progress.
I hope this helps! Best of luck in your journey.

Hi just wondering if microdosing mushrooms is beneficial for medical conditions that are not mentally related?
Maybe POTS , Gut health and back pain. Just asking as I also have a number of genetic issues that effect my health and are greatly going to effect my life expectancy.
Look at Dr Fadiman’s protocol for microdosing.
I think psychedelics, whether ‘normal’ dosing or microdosing, are the answer to many wrongs and problems on this planet, but a hell of a lot of educating is necessary. Even those of us who have been reading about the subject for years and experimenting to the extent available to us, are still confused about some of its aspects; at least I am, and I’ve tried both full doses and microdosing. I also think it’s a shame how the values of the big multinationals such as the ones you mention, are rubbish, and that it would be brilliant if the microdosing helped to make them people with better values, and not just make them more creative and productive for the purpose of making more and more money. Sheesh, it took me ages to write this while I kept falling asleep, I hope it doesn’t sound crap, ha ha ha!
Yes! I totally agree with you. In fact, we wrote an article about it here: https://thethirdwave.co/microdosing-business/ – Would love to hear your thoughts 🙂
I’m in Scituate, MA
I have been microdosing for the past year. It has helped me tremendously with depression and anxiety. It’s the only thing that has worked. I have microdosed on both acid and shrooms.
Great! Thank you so much for sharing.
Liz I am going to send you a PM….look for it if you kindly might, thanks…
Hi, coming from chino
What kind of dosing do you prefer?
I prefer micro. Summing up the courage to do high doses is a once-in-a-year type deal.
Hello
Hi I like to try micro dosing. But I don’t know where I can buy this in a safe healthy place. I also need advice in how much to take. Maybe I am stupid🙈for not understanding.
I leave in Norway. I don know who can help me get it here and how to do it.
Humble thank you
Line💜
Is lsd or psilocybin more effective for bi polar as far as micro dosing goes?
yes, you can allow yourself to view yourself from a third position but the way out is to ;when you find yourself on either side of the polarity crank it up a bit and be in it deliberately rather than by default ,now you are in charge.hope this helps
Since LSD is illegal, what does one so to procure it? Is a prescription necessary? I don’t imagine most doctors know about this or would prescribe it.
Darknet.
Whatsup Thirdwave,
I’ve been microdosing for ~17weeks now, on a relatively regimented schedule. Results have been fantastic. My colleagues and I have been keeping some logs on titration methods, effects, etc. Would love to chat-collaborate to help document and spread the positivity.
Hey! Yeah that’d be great! Please send us the details of what you had in mind at [email protected]
Hi. I am about to start the microdosing process with mushrooms, however I am on a mood stabilizer for bipolar and a sleep medication. My understanding is to taper off the mood stabilizer. Can I remain on the sleep med? I can’t sleep without it.
I have questions about ” LSD flashbacks” Early in life i started to see fractals in light form in my vision similar to what i experienced on a low dose of LSD. Its been 2 months now since i took the lsd for the first time and the fractals/light/patterns/trip is intensifying. I can almost control it. Focus on the waves and allow them to collaborate allowing them to create magnificent patterns or light orbs.
I ate mushrooms over a year ago, and rolled for the first time a couple days before my trip. I have been doing so much research and can’t seem to find any insight or even anyone who experiences it like i do. If you have any insight or interests please reply.
Again, I am sober. and I see these ” mild hallucinations ” day and night. Happy or sad.
Thank you
Hi, I hope you are still monitoring this post. I’m new to this website and am just now seeing this post for the first time. I suffer from chronic vestibular migraine with aura, which is a major systemic disease. Only 20 percent of migraineurs have auras, which are characterized by visual, auditory, and sometimes other types of hallucinations. For the past two years I have been having visual and auditory hallucinations for 15 of every 30 days per month. It may seem off that I am trying microdosing psychedelic drugs to stop my migraines, but I am. I see fractals, mandalas, scintillating scotomas, gold rain falling down, burnt-orange, and bluish-black peacock colors. I also have tinnitus, the sounds of triangles, cymbals, and even actual songs that sometimes correspond to the moving visual patterns than form in my visual field. These sights and sounds grow stronger when the actual migraine pain sets in. I think they are a form of synaesthesia in which I am hearing and seeing my pain, all or in part. When my doctor injects my occipital nerves with bupecaine, the hallucinations and any migraine pain I have stops. Sometimes I have the auras without the pain. In these cases I am having what is known as an “acephalgic migraine.” I have read that psilocybin and LSD constrict blood supply to the cerebral cortex and the midbrain, both of which are implicated in migraine disease. Also psilocybin and LSD are tryptamines, and there are other tryptamines that are given to migraineurs as a means to control their headaches. so I’m hopeful about this protocol.
Hi Samarra,
I want to thank you for being so transparent and sharing your story. That sounds extremely difficult to deal with, but I’m glad that you seem to have found at least some relief through your doctors. I know that this is not exactly your symptoms, but there has been a lot of success treating cluster headaches through LSD and psilocybin (check out this resource here).
If you have any questions about microdosing or starting a protocol, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly at [email protected] and I’ll do my best to help out!

Look what I just found!
I am 54. Here in the last 1-2 years my ability to focus has greatly deteriorated. I have loads of good ideas but just can’t get a handle on them. Is this something that would help me?
Google Hallucinogen persistent perception disorder. Not totally uncommon, get the very faint colors here and there, more so if I smoke pot. They don’t bother me though.
Hi, I have had my first Iboga microdose yesterday and it was very healing, and gives me a lot of hope that I can get on track with a good and happy life. I saw on your site that you recommend 4-6 mg of Iboga for a microdose, I saw on another thread that has been popular that the recommended does is 500 mg every fall days. I took two (middle size) capsules of Iboga yesterday. https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=52279
I see quite a bit on Ibogaine on the internet, information on how to work with Iboga microdosing is harder to come by.
Thank you for this site and for all the good info
Hi actually can you delete my comment? or make it anonymous? I am from Malaysia and the laws here are strict. I don’t want any trouble..just in case, since my information and photo is up there. Thank you.
How many times a week would you guys recommend microdosing on golden teacher using 0.25 capsules? Everyday every other day?
Yes, as long as you don’t have any pre-existing mental conditions such as Schizophrenia. LSD in my opinion is the best one to be dosing but be sure to use the Ehrlich test to test the purity of your substance. Use volumetric dosing, and you should dose ~15ug of the LSD. It should boost creativity, focus, and enjoyment of working. Be sure to follow the 4 day schedule to the books and write down any changes in mental health. Also I’d combine it with a nootropic or executive function supplements (strattera is recommended from me) to help with the memory and mental organizations. Talk to your doctor about executive function medications.
Every 4th day, Microdose day, reflection day, rest day, microdose day. The teacher is great one by the way 🙂
I would try a small microdose regiment. Try a small dose every 4th day. If you are in the states you can check out agarculture.com for some easy to grow psilocybin mushroom kits.
If you have liquid and want to microdose you should dilute the liquid 1:10 or 1:7
Yes and I have found that if I don’t eat enough and I get an empty stomach it can sometimes make the experience uncomfortable for me.
You will be building tolerance to the substance and will eventually experience no benefits from it. I would stick to the recommendation of micro-dosing every fourth day or else, you could also benefit from a unique, stronger dose, which seems to have psychological effects that last a lot longer. In the latter solution, allow a good two weeks to pass without taking any psychedelics (so to avoid cross-tolerance) in order to eliminate completely the substance from your body and then take around 5 grams dried mushrooms from a good strain, that would be a good amount to aim for: less than that and you might be able to resist the trip and create anxiety for yourself. Take more if the mushrooms aren’t very potent: you won’t be able to overdose anyway as this is physically harmless and not addictive at all. Set and setting is key: familiar surroundings, having a positive mood right before the experience, be calm, very comfortable with clothes and temperature, ideally be on an empty stomach to potentiate the effects and avoid more nausea, close your eyes and have issues in mind you would like to reflect upon. To help in the process, you could read about a particular topic before taking magic mushrooms (depression, anxiety, peace, Buddhism, happiness, relationships you currently have, etc.) and be open to answers while under the influence of the drug as you will be processing the information you just read in a new, open way, with less filters.
Also, being alone while doing this experiment would be advisable to minimize distractions and maximize the integration of new insights. Eating about 20-30 raw cocoa beans (or the equivalent quantity in cocoa nibs) around 30 minutes after taking the mushrooms may help to relax you, may help with blood pressure, put you in a more positive, euphoric state of mind and make the peak last longer (by the way, the Aztec people used to drink a lot of chocolate beverages while tripping, I am not making up that suggestion… commercial chocolate is too processed to be of use, hence you will be better off with pure cocoa if you choose to try it). Taking a shower right after ingesting the substance will also refresh you and prepare you to relax more easily. Just take into account that you will start feeling the effects about 45 minutes after taking the mushrooms so anticipate it and be totally relaxed and physically inactive while this is happening so you won’t stress out. Writing down what’s on your mind when the effects have diminished may be very helpful to review your introspection at a later time. This drug is a natural medicine that can expand your mind if you surrender to its possibilities. Hope this is useful to someone. Enjoy your growth!
Such a handsome man
Haha thanks bud
Can I combine antidepressants with psilocybin?
I also had some depersonalisation symptoms ten years ago before started antidepressants. Is it safe with this history of dissociation symptoms to use psilocybin? Thank you in advance
Hey, Anna — I was wondering if you ended if you ended up microdosing, and if it had any positive/negative effects on your depersonalization. I have chronic depersonalization and derealization and worry psilocybin might exacerbate my dissociation. Would love any feedback. Thank you so much.
Yes. I’m not a doctor but I have been microdosing for a couple of years now, as well as taking fairly heavy doses of psychedelics. No problem with SSRI antidepressants.
Anna — I’m wondering if you ended up microdosing and if you found it to have any positive/negative effects on your depersonalization. My only reservation re: microdosing psilocybin is that it might exacerbate my dissociation. Would love to hear any feedback at all. Thank you so much.
Hi, im wondering how long would one need to continue microdosing?
Daddy i did the 2 days a week for 10 weeks, then what?
Would i stop for a month? A year? How often should i repeat the regimen?
It is generally safe (but do more research), however the SSRI medications make psychedelic effects less since they both affect your serotonin receptors.
Michell
What would be a microdose of fresh truffles? I have 15g pouches of Utopia. An eighth of a pouch? A tenth?
Did you figure out how much to take? I have the same truffels and plan on starting tomorrow morning. Was planning on taking 1.2g
I am taking my microdose of shrooms after work around 4pm on the days my dosing falls on a work day. I have not had the courage to go to work after microdosing because I’ll be afraid someone might notice something different about me. So is it OK to micro dose late in the afternoon?
Else Tilman
I think its Ok but depends on the individual, for example I know that I would have more difficulty sleeping at the habitual hour, just like when taking a coffee in the evening/night. But for working late on personal projects, perfect!
I’m microdosing Golden Teachers now and I was going to do every other day but the spirit or essence of the strain felt like it was telling my body to hold off a few days between each dose. The every 4th day strategy seems to line up with that message.
What’s the best way to dilute it with? Just water, distilled?
What if taking kratom?
Madison, I believe you’re experiencing HPPD. I would avoid hallucinogens since people with HPPD tend to get worse symptoms if they continue use.
Hi!
If you want to learn how to safely use the Dark Web, check
thefacilitator.rocks
Kratom and Microdosing go well together. Im experienced with both seperately and combined. They go well and some days i like to combine them. But most of the time i prefer only one of the two. I like to microdose every few days and also do kratom every few days, have like a rotation. It helps me staying focused and in a stable state of consciousness for most of the time.
How is it normal to take DRUGS to be able to perform your duties as an employee? I may be a sceptic and I admit, personally I am against the usage of drugs for re(creative) purposes, so I admit I am very biased. But shouldn’t we be thinking the other way around: how to adapt the working and private environment to the natural needs of our body and mind? Making a cute infographic sells the idea easier, I get that, but isn’t there something wrong with the idea behind this trend?
Would like to hear from whomever is interested to discuss this,
Niels
Thanks for asking, Niels. Let me address this in a few ways:
1. People already take drugs to perform their duties as an employee. It’s called coffee 🙂 Caffeine is one of the most widely used drugs in the world (and yes, I assure you, caffeine IS a drug 🙂 )
2. If you’re against the usage of ‘drugs’ for creative purposes, I highly recommend destroying any and all music you listen to from the 1960s onwards 🙂 Almost every prominent musician has, in some form, been inspired by psychedelics. While you’re at it, do away with all the apps you use on your smartphone as most of Silicon Valley ideates on psychedelics to think of new, disruptive solutions.
3. What is natural? How do you define natural? Psychedelics have been used for tens of thousands of years by humans all over the globe. In fact, many psychedelic substances are plant-based. How can you get more natural than that? Did you know that Plato (yes, that Plato) attended the Eleusinian Mysteries in ancient Greece where he consumed a natural, psychedelic beverage (very similar to LSD)?
No, I see nothing wrong with a trend that gets people to think differently about a stigmatized and heavily taboo’d topic. I also see nothing wrong with people taking a substance that is proven to be non-addictive, non-toxic, and extremely safe (even in high doses).
I appreciate your questions and hope my comment provided some insight. And please feel free to reply – but only AFTER you’ve done a little more research on psychedelics 🙂 Our website is a great first resource to start with.
I think Niels Kroon made a valid point. Whether or not you approve or disapprove of psychedelics, if we need something ‘extra’ to ‘survive’ our working day/life, there might also be something amiss with work/life as it is. So the point could be: do we change society or do we ‘rig’ our minds to be able to cope with society as it is.
At least this is a very valid question.
The word “drugs” comes with baggage that is better suited for an earlier time before easily accessible internet research. One thing drugs do encompass together are changes in psyche. Coffee is a drug and tobacco. When someone drinks coffee, you don’t say “I know that helps you, but do you really want to attribute all of your creative process to it?”.
Microdosing (from personal experience) is definitely not the end all be all solution – it’s a tool. If I have a very long unexpected shift, I will pull the tool of coffee out. If I am stressed, someone might pull the tool of tobacco out. If you are feeling in a rut or want to look at a creative problem another way, someone might pull the tool of microdosing.
Drugs encompass everything from tobacco to heroin…it’s a word that casts too broad a spectrum and doesn’t reflect our knowledge in today’s world. I hope I’ve helped 🙂 thanks for even being interested enough to ask questions.
This is such a nice website. Great example of what microdosing can do!
Not just after the 1960s I assure you :). Musicians being inspired by ‘jazz’ cigarettes stem back all the way back to the 1930s with the popularity of Blues and Jazz.
This information is wonderful but I feel there should be a bit about the different types of magic mushrooms. Most mushrooms people are getting their hands on are cubensis which are far less strong than cyanescences or azurescens.
I think anyone should consider taking any substance if it yields a net positive result for them and doesn’t affect our planet and all living things on it negatively. By calling it a drug, you push it in a corner with substances that are mostly taken to escape from something (psychedelics are widely used to confront oneself with their problems, but that’s a discussion for another day).
Eating healthy can also alter your state of mind, is that a drug too? I take supplements daily too boost my health and cognitive function, would you consider that taking drugs to enhance performance too? I want to challenge to a thought experiment: What if you let go of the label ‘drug’ for a second. What if someone tells you that you can take a plant based pill that boosts your performance and makes you feel better and it has no negative side-effects whatsoever, would you take it? Now compare this to someone telling you to eat healthy food, what is the difference?
Genius remark
1. Try as far back as the Stone Age.
2. Marijuana is not mushrooms. “Jazz cigarettes” would be marijuana. Assuming you were NOT confused and instead meant “drugs inspiring creativity, in general”, see point #1.
As a combat veteran, my research to controling the monster that produces my ptsd has brought me to psychedelics, however, my research has hit a wall due to psychedelics are not accessible as other medicines, and havent experienced them. Any word one what to do next?
Before knowing that such a page exist I started poping acid everyday wondering why it does not work..im such a idiot :-))
Where can the video you mentioned be found?
People take nootropics for ages and psilocybin is number 1 natural nootropic. Anybody knows and appropriate link how to grow shroomees from scratch?
After taking a moderate psilocybin dose, I decided I should probably cut back on using kratom daily. If you don’t use kratom daily, I wouldn’t take a microdose and use kratom at the same time – kratom feels like it could dull the psychedelic experience. I’ve been follow the microdose advice given here for around a month now – and slowly lower how much kratom I use. A microdose and kratom don’t seem to have any terrible interactions. The microdoses have made me less depressed, though a bit more anxious at times. Positive overall. The effects of both kratom and psychedelics vary from person to person though. Hope this perspective helps you out at least a bit.
My god.. It’s called HPPD, aka Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder.
This is not LSD “Flashbacks” but it’s rather a disorder, that will go away – with time – if you’re lucky.
I would not recommend taking ANY drugs for at least a year, and possibly avoid pshycadelics after that as well.
At which time of the day should I take the microdose based on this infographic? Around 7am?
Hey It’s like I’m reading my own thoughts 😀
My work aches is Sun-Thursday. Should I start regiment on Saturday instead!?
Can you microdose for longer than the 10 weeks? I am not worried about tolerance, but the heart valve effects which are too challenging to understand for me.
What about mini-microdoses daily. But I still don’t understand the health implications of that!
Niels, Micro-dosing is taking amounts too small to be psychoactive, but at the same time the substance still has effects that are beneficial in many different ways for different folks. Its not about getting intoxicated at all. It’s more like getting the positive side effects W/O the intoxicating effect even coming into play.
Also wanna know, and if not how long should you have a break and then start again ?
Hi I would like to know exactly how I can make a microdose using liquid lsd? Can u direct me to success?thanks Juno
I ate lsd 3 times and shrooms 3 times in 4 years. And i didnt get flashback. Get a life lol
Nice
I am seeing the Awakening thru Plant Medicine myself. (How was Rythmia)? Mother Aya, so sacred; I dislike when they call it a trip. It is a scared journey. A chance to find your soul again. Now microdosing, would be my next step; I believe for helping with the maintaining of the connection that I have made with Aya. Peace.
get bitcoin and go on the dark web markets, u can get em there and most places are pretty legit just do ur research first
I need deets on how to go on dark web to find micro dosable DMT. Can you help?
Hi Where can I get info on MD lboga
I recommend testing your it so you can get an idea of how potent it is then go from there topically if it’s real let it will turn colors if it’s a pinkish color expect less then a 100 Microdots it it gets purple 100 or more the more purple it gets the more potent it is then delute it from there
Liquid lsd
Look up Myco Willy’s Channel on Youtube
I believe this should be updated. I’ve listened to Paul Stamets suggest 5 days on and 2 days off with supplementation of Lions Mane and cordyceps sinensis.
where, when, & how could i start microdosing?
I micro dosed this entire semester at college senior year and finished with a 4.0. I am doctoral student as of next year, and I study medicinal chemistry. I develop drugs, I for one say that Micro dosing mushrooms is great. I was doing every other day, just one mushroom. Never weighed it out, never had any problems. In all I think the experience helped me alleviate some general social problems, mainly anxiety. More so, it was a cool ride, sometimes say on a sunday or saturday i would take two instead, no school or anything and just enjoyed the slight buzz. but never enough to trip. It keep me what i would say a steady state concentration that I could handle. I also didn’t no so much about the dosing at first so i first tried like 3 mushrooms, was too much, back it down to half that dose. then final just one mushroom was good for me. Remember about medicine no matter what kind it follows the same laws. So it really depends on you. Hope you give it a try. You only live once. cheers
Awesome , feel the same and did the same ?
Helped me quit
Curious as to why it is recommended for 10 weeks. Do you take a break then restart the regiment? Any ideas? Thanks
Ne verjamem!
I seriously miss a risk-benefit ration in the description… Its only about positive effects. At least one should mention the risk of getting heat valvulopathy or potential influence on the dopamine system. There is not much research into that, but probably still more than into microdosing.
Where could I find the sources for this information? I have to write an argumentative paper about something controversial, and I’m choosing the benefits of microdosing on psychedelics. I just need some solid sources to cite!
You mentioned a couple of times in your article that there has not been any complaints of people having issues with people micro dosing. With the exception of a few people who deal with some heavy “emotional release.” Can you elaborate on that?
Also, I have suffered from Derealization for 40 years now and am wondering if micro dosing might help me re-integrate my brain. Nothing else that I’ve tried has helped. I read somewhere that mushrooms or LSD in micro doses might work for people with my condition. Thoughts?
Luciano — I was about to post nearly the same comment/question. Having had chronic depersonalization and derealization (24/7) for 10+ years, I hope to heck microdosing can help my DP/DR, yet worry it may exacerbate the dissociation. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in. Thanks for posting.
I’ve been suffering from depression for the past 20 years and have been on various mixes of antidepressants in the last 15. I desperately want to get off the meds as I am so sick of the side effects and how the meds eventually stop being effective and the dr has to up the dose. My question is if I microdose once every three days for 10 weeks, do I wean myself off the antidepressants prior to micro dosing? and then after the 10 weeks is my depression “cured”? or will I have to micro dose every 6 months? I haven’t found any information on long-term use. Any insight you have would be greatly appreciated!
At a minimum the type of mushroom should be stated. Even the less potent varieties like cubensis can vary in potency drastically depending on growing conditions. A half gram could be a full on trip with some other types growen in optimal conditions. Seems like a really important detail to leave out of the article.
is this completely legal??

I wish I had discovered this years ago. I’m now completely off those lousy ineffective antidepressants and I feel like a human being again. My memory has come back and I can get out of bed without wishing I had died in my sleep. Every counter productive habit I had I can now see plainly and I’m back in the drivers seat. I feel balanced and have much lower levels of fear and anxiety. My only regret is the years of my life wasted in despair. There is no doubt in my mind that big pharma is going to throw billions into shutting this down any way that they can.
I live in the UK. I have bipolar disorder, diagnosed 24 years ago. I’ve used standard pharma meds all this time but after a double-dip depression this year, looked for alternatives. After lots of research, I found a way to buy a shroom growing kit that could be sent to my home address, with no payment issues. I harvested my first crop 10 days ago, and had my first ever dose (classed as a ‘normal dose’) last week. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I must share that the whole experience was nowhere near as weird as I thought it might be. And for the next two days, the high levels of anxiety I’d been feeling every day just weren’t there. Just a feeling of peace and calm. I can’t explain it better than that. The third day was not good, which I put down to the effects wearing off. As of the weekend, I have started micro-dosing and am keeping detailed records and photos of everything. My goal long-term is come off the standard pharma meds, get rid of the side effects, and have a more stable and enjoyable life.
Hey mate,
I’m bipolar as well and would like to know more about your experience with microdosing as I’m also considering trying it out. What’s been stopping me so far is the worry that I might become manic or psychotic so it would be really nice if you could let me know how it’s going for you.
Hey there,
Looking to do it as well, my doctor says no drugs whatsoever but I don’t think he is very up to speed with the whole microdosing thing. Keen to hear what your experiences are. Haven’t become manic or psychotic ever but it is something I really want to avoid.
Cheers
Hi, I have done a 3 week daily microdosing treatment of Psilocybin Mushrooms about 3 months ago. My question now is how long should I wait to do another round of microdosing treatment? I will follow your suggestions here on taking it every 3rd day rather than every day.
Is it important to taper off microdosing, if so how would you do that if taking a dose every 3rd day? Thanks.
James Fadiman’s microdosing protocol serves as an ideal microdosing guide (dosing every 3rd day) for multiple reasons.
Firstly, the day following the day you dose is very important as many people have reported that the substance’s effects are still felt, many report a sort of “after glow”. It allows you to observe whether or not microdosing is working for you. It is also important to have an extra observational day before microdosing again. This allows you to return to a baseline and helps prevent building a tolerance. It doesn’t take long to build a tolerance to psychedelics, this is important to keep in mind.
Fadiman suggests taking a break after completing a month-long protocol. There is no golden rule for how long your break should be but I have heard many sources (including Fadiman) encourage the break to be about a month – 5 weeks in length. Again, this allows you to observe the effects of microdosing, keeping your tolerance in check and most importantly it helps you steer clear from developing a psychological dependence to the substance.
As for tapering off, this comes down to personal preference. Ayelet Waldman, author of A Really Good Day did not report tapering off LSD in her book. I personally just ended my month-long protocol and took a smaller dose on my last dose day not because I was trying to taper off, but because by the last day I had found my sweet spot (ideal dose). I was wondering whether or not I should gradually decrease my doses before taking a break and I am sure many others have the same concern so thank you for asking this question!
I hope this helps and please do not hesitate to contact us with any other questions!
I just started microdosing psilocybin in liquid form. I am using a dropper sublingual. First dose noticed some lovely side effects around relaxation, lessening of anxiety, anger, etc.
two days later took second dose. Nothing.
I am only taking 3 drops. Will titrate up but I have no idea how to measure the drops against
the .2-.5g of mushrooms microdosing. Should I try 10 drops. How long do the effects last for most people who intellgently micro dose with psilocybin?
Thanks for the info.
Why not mention Autism? This is a cure for AUTISM!
It’s important to stress the point that psychedelics are a tool and not a panacea. Psychedelics have very powerful potential, however, once we start using words such as “cure” we sensationalize them which can be very dangerous. The cure comes from within.
I have a question. What do You think or maybe You have information about taking medication for depression and in the same time microdosing? Since it is so difficult to find answers for many issues about microdosing this one I think very important.
I’d like to know if you have a favourite kind of magic mushroom to do microdose (burma, McKenaii, etc) and which is the dose that you use. I’m not a big person (47 kilos) and I wanna start with microdosing. I’ve been doing one year of ayahuasca therapy (every Saturday) and I’ve been to the Peruvian jungle twice taking master plants. Cheers!
With all the positive publicity around micro dosing these days I wanted to provide a negative side to the story. I micro-dosed lsd-p using volumetric dosing on and off for about 14 months (maybe 30 times total) – and while I generally found the benefits to match what was mentioned in this article my experience suddenly took a turn for the worse this Fall.
I had dosed maybe 6 times over the summer, typically 5-10mcg, up to 20mcg at most during a single session once or twice. The second to last time was over labor day and the final time was the first week of October. The morning after the last time I woke up, walked outside, and realized my vision was filled with new visual floaters, some looked like the typical ones most people notice when they’re young, others were almost like black smoke swirling by. Small amounts of visual static was present as well. I had essentially developed HPPD overnight after my final use. I’m not a psychonaut, I’ve tripped twice in my entire life, both 1+ years before I ever micro-dosed and none during. I lead a healthy lifestyle, I eat well, I exercise, I don’t abuse other substances. Eye exam came back negative for any structural issues and the floaters are bi-lateral, so my best take on this, after much research, is damage to the 5ht2a receptors in my visual cortex that may or may not ever resolve itself.
I’m not going to say this will be a common result for micro-dosers and I suspect I have some sort of genetic predisposition to this outcome, but had I known this was possible I would never have started.
My advice, if you still want to micro-dose, is to take it slow, stick with sub-perceptual doses closer to 1-3mcg and take frequent, month long breaks along the way. Stop immediately at the first sign of anything unusual (more floaters, visual static at night, light sensitivity, phantom movement in your periphery, etc).
Advocates for microdosing would have you believe that it is risk free – this is simply not true. As Dr Drew always used to say on Loveline: “There are no free rides in nature”. You brain is the most valuable organ you have – damaging it permanently for a few extra weeks of boosted output at work is something you’ll regret for the rest of your life.
Paul please let me know if i get it right – according to this schedule, i should take 4 microdoses (1×9:00, 1×16:00,1×19:00,1×21:00) every 3rd Day? Or just 1x microdose per day every 3rd day? What is The recommended microdose for dmt in ayahuasca cream form?
Hi Mike,
We recommend one microdose every third day. As far as taking DMT in ayahuasca cream form, I cannot provide a definitive answer on that since we do not have a published guide that talks about microdosing in that form. We recommend smoking at a dose of less than 10 mg. (You can find our full guide on microdosing DMT here).
I hope that this provides at least a partial answer to your question. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if I can be of any further assistance, and I’ll do my best to help!

After doing it for 10 weeks what happens after that do you have a break and then do it again ?
Hi James, that depends on your purpose for microdosing. You can start right away, or you can wait a longer period of time. Experiment with what works for you based on the notes you take during the 10-week period. Happy microdosing!
Best,
Ginger
Hi, can psilocibine in this microdosis help for insomnia or make it worst
