We are hiring, once again, for a psychedelic apprentice/intern at The Third Wave.
We want to hire someone who is enthusiastic about the benefits of psychedelic substances, understands the potential downsides, and wants to work hard to make the mission at The Third Wave a growing reality.
What is our mission?
To contribute to the ongoing re-evaluation of psychedelic substances by providing reliable, well-researched information and nurturing psychedelic community.
This position is not for someone who is already in a full-fledged career (though, it could act as a transition point between careers or purposes).
Instead, we are looking to bring on someone who is keen to learn some of the ins and outs of building an online community and is hungry to learn and grow as an individual.
I will provide training for many of the expectations – but I plan to hire someone who can work autonomously, without needing consistent direction.
This will start as a fast-paced internship for the first 90 days. If things go well, there is potential for more responsibility and pay.
One more thing – the pay is going to be shit for the first 90 days. So only apply if you are hungry to learn, and willing to accept a stipend in exchange for some serious personal growth.
- Edit blog posts and long-form pieces for publication on our blog (#1 priority in hiring intern)
- Assist marketing efforts for our Psychedelic Culture podcast (#2 priority in hiring intern)
- Cultivate social media presence by curating high-quality resources
- Finalize bi-weekly newsletters to send to our e-mail list
- Attend a 30-minute call once per week for training and feedback
- Various other tasks in building the presence and reach of The Third Wave
- Keep a time sheet, including tasks worked on
This is a location-independent job. Meaning, you can work from anywhere. But this means we must be in constant communication.
Work will be whenever you want – as long as you get the week’s tasks finished.
It will be approximately 15 hours of work per week.
You can work from anywhere with a good internet connection.
One point to emphasize: You must work 15 hours per week, every week. I make exceptions but they are few and far in-between. If you cannot commit to a consistent 15 hours per week, then please do not apply for this position.
As compensation for your work, you will receive a 400 USD per month stipend. As I mentioned before, the pay is shit. This opportunity is best for someone who has another source of income, and is willing to work a little extra to have the opportunity to develop professional skills that will help them work within a profitable psychedelic business in a completely location-independent position.
This stipend will last for the first 3 months. After the first 3 months, I will re-evaluate your compensation.
Basically, I’m building a team of ambitious people who want to help spread responsible psychedelic education through community building.
If you’re a good fit, we encourage you to stay past the initial internship phase.
This is a unique internship position in which you will learn a lot in a short time. Although it is a part-time position (15 hours/week), we can not accept any applicants who can not focus and dedicate that amount of time per week.
For example, if you have a busy week, you can not “roll-over” missed hours / tasks to the next week.
Preference will be given to the individual who has experience editing and publishing content – either online content or academic content. One of our focal points moving forward is improving the quality of our written content.
You also must be comfortable using social media, email, and Skype.
I will train you to handle everything else, specific to sending out newsletters and helping to promote the podcast
Specifically, you must be
- Comfortable using social media and in general tech-savvy
- Passionate about responsible psychedelic use
- Fluent in English
- Flawless with grammar, spelling
- Able to work independently 95% of the time
- Respectful of deadlines
- Able to see the big picture
- Aware of the goals of this position
- Aware of our mission at The Third Wave
Most importantly, you must be willing to learn. I move at a fast pace. And I expect you to keep up. As long as you work hard, meet deadlines, and are honest when you don’t know what the fuck is going on – then you will be a great fit.
I’d rather hire someone who meets deadlines, shows up on time, and works hard – and needs more training – than someone who already has skills but is unreliable.
